Our teaching is being staffed by the wonderful volunteers of the DREAM Project (the Dominican Republic Education and Mentoring Project).
Café Alta Gracia is thriving despite the lowest coffee prices in 40 years. By striving to improve our coffee quality, we have found a niche in the specialty market. This comes from constant attention and scrutiny by everyone working on the farm to ensure that the inherent quality of the bean is maintained through every step of harvesting and processing. With its particular characteristics of aroma and deep rich flavor notes, Café Alta Gracia commands a favorable retail price, even in these "hard times."
Where:
• 17 kilometers west of Jarabacoa, a thriving small city in the "Dominican Alps," popular for ecotourism.
• 17 kilometers east of Pico Durate, the highest peak east of the Mississippi River in the northern half of hemisphere.
• 1100-meter altitude provides "eternal spring" climate.
